Assist mode

Also said as Assist options, Accessibility settings

A menu of separate settings that make specific things easier, each your own choice: slower game speed, extra jumps, no damage. You keep the rest of the game as it was designed.

People are stuck on a game for different reasons: one has trouble with reactions, another with their hands, another has only got an hour. One slider can't address them all, and treating the choice as normal keeps people playing rather than feeling shamed.

“Add separate toggles: game speed from 50% to 100%, one extra jump, and no fall damage. Don't lock achievements, and don't make a comment when someone turns them on.”

Celeste's Assist Mode lets you lower game speed to as little as 50% in steps of 10%, grant infinite stamina, add air dashes, and turn off death. You can switch it on and off at any time.

A difficulty mode says this is who you are. An assist option says this is the one thing in your way.
