Juice
Also said as Game juice, Polish, Game feel effects
All the extra feedback that makes a small action feel big: sound, particles, shake, flashes, bounce. The term spread through the 2012 talk Juice It or Lose It by Martin Jonasson and Petri Purho.
The same rules can feel lifeless or irresistible. Juice is cheap compared with new content, and it is often what makes people want to press the button again.
Say it
“The rules work but it is dry. Juice the match: particles from each cleared tile, rising pitch on combos, a small shake on big clears, and a score that counts up instead of snapping.”
Where you’ve seen it
Peggle plays Ode to Joy in slow motion on the final peg. It changes nothing in the rules, and it is what everyone remembers.
Not to be confused with game feel
Juice is output: what the game does back at you. Feel also includes input and physics. You cannot juice your way out of a bad jump.
